Projekt Arbeitszimmer: Fortsetzung // Progress in my study

Gestern hatten wir Einschulung, und es war natürlich ein Meilenstein für unsere Famile, dass unser Töchterchen jetzt in die Schule geht. Aber es fühlt sich gut an, und sicherlich wird unsere Mausi in nächster Zeit noch viel selbstständiger als vorher. Ihr gefällt es in der Schule und sie ist natürlich auch gespannt auf alles, was da so auf sie zukommt. 

Our daughter had her first day at primary school yesterday and of course, this is a big step for our family. But it feels good. Our daughter will surely become even more self-dependent. She likes school and is excited about all the things future has in store for her.

Nachdem wir nach den Feierlichkeiten und der ersten Schulstunde zuhause ein bisschen gebruncht hatten, habe ich den Nachmittag genutzt, um mein Büro zu tapezieren. Die Tapete war leider nicht so leicht an die Wand zu bekommen, da sie sehr glatt ist. Manchmal stimmte oben das Muster überein, unten gab es dann aber 2 mm Versatz , und ich musste sie mehrfach abziehen und neu ausrichten. Schlussendlich bin ich aber mit dem Ergebnis sehr zufrieden. Da ich ursprünglich anders geplant hatte, fehlt mir nur jetzt doch noch Tapete für eine halbe Bahn, was bedeutet, dass ich eine Rolle nachbestellen muss. Da ich nämlich genau weiß, welche Regale an die tapezierte Wand kommen sollen, habe ich beim Planen so berechnet, dass ich hinter dem Regal nicht tapeziere. Mein Mann aber - in wirklich weiser Vorausicht - meinte, dass ich vielleicht irgendwann mal auf die Idee kommen könnte, die Möbel umzurücken ("IIiiiiiich???") und dann müsste ich da ja wieder tapezieren, falls ich niedrigere Möbel an diese Wand stellen möchte. Also habe ich, in der Hoffnung, trotzdem mit der bestellten Tapete auszukommen, zumal die Wand dort wegen der Dachschräge nur 2,30 m hoch ist, doch bis unten hin tapeziert. Aber zum Schluss fehlte mir dann eine halbe Bahn. Aber halb so wild, wird nachbestellt und dann ergänzt. Da ja von der nachbestellten Rolle wiederum viel übrig sein wird, hat sich die Tapetenfrage für die Garderobe unter der Treppe damit erledigt. Die Resttapete wird dort verbraucht. Wenn man überlegt, was eine Rolle Tapete kostet, wäre es Quatsch, hier eine fast volle Rolle aufzubewahren und dann wiederum für den winzigen Raum unten, wo man vielleicht nur höchstens 3 m Tapete benötigt, eine komplett neue Rolle zu kaufen.

After the celebrations at school and her first school lesson, we had a brunch at our house for the relatives. Then I used the afternoon and wallpapered my study. This wallpaper was not very easy to attach, so I had to pull it off several times and reattach it. But now I am very pleased with the result. As I changed my plans, I ran short of half a strip of wallpaper so that I have to order another roll. First, I planned to not wallpaper the bottom of that wall as I am going to put a shelving system of a certain height in front of it. But then my very clever (not to say wise) husband reminded me of my fondness for rearranging furniture and said that if I ever intended to put something in front of the wall that was lower than this, I would have to wallpaper again. So I wallpapered the wall right down to the floor, and that was the reason why I didn't have enough for the entire wall. So I will have to order the same wallpaper again. 

This is also the solution for my wallpaper question for the coat closet downstairs, because taking  the price of a roll of wallpaper into consideration I think it would be silly to store the remnants of this wallpaper of which I will not need very much, and then buy another roll for the coat closet, where I will also not need more than probably 3 m or so (a roll of wallpaper consists of 10 m).

Aus dem winzigen Rest Tapete habe ich dann noch mit dem Rollschneider ganz ordentlich Streifen geschnitten und zwei Konservendosen damit geschmückt, die mir demnächst als Stiftehalter und Sammler für meinen ganzen "Kram" auf dem Schreibtisch dienen werden.

I cut two small strips of wallpaper which I wrapped around empty cans. These will hold my pencils, scissors and the like on my desk and help to keep the desktop clear.
